Brazilian Wax vs Laser: Cost Over 10 Years

Waxing a Brazilian for a decade tops $7,000. See how a laser course compares and when it breaks even.

A Brazilian is one of the most expensive areas to keep up by waxing, which is why it is the clearest case where laser wins over a decade. Laser is usually cheaper; the real question is how soon it pays for itself.

Waxing a Brazilian for 10 years

At about $59 a visit every 4 weeks, that is roughly 12 visits a year, or ~120 visits over a decade, more than $7,000, and that is before any price increases or tips. The bill never stops; it keeps compounding month after month.

A laser course over the same 10 years

A typical course of 6-8 sessions at $200-$400 each completes in year one, then needs only about one maintenance visit a year. Over a decade that lands well under the waxing total, with most of the cost paid up front instead of dripping out forever.

What can shift your crossover

That 4-5 year range is a typical case, not a rule. A few things push your break-even earlier or later:

  • Waxing frequency. Every-3-week waxers cross over faster than every-6-week waxers, because the recurring bill piles up more quickly against the fixed laser course.
  • Laser package deals. Many clinics discount a pre-paid 6-session package, which lowers the up-front number and pulls the crossover forward.
  • Sessions needed. Lighter or finer hair may need more sessions or more maintenance, nudging the total up toward the higher end of that $200–$400 range.
  • Tips and price hikes.Waxing tips every four weeks and steady salon price increases only widen the gap in laser's favor over a decade.
The 120-visit, $7,000+ waxing figure assumes today's prices held flat for ten years. In reality wax prices tend to rise, so the real waxing total, and the case for laser, is usually larger than the flat estimate suggests.

When it breaks even

For a Brazilian the crossover commonly falls around 4-5 years. Every year past that point, waxing keeps charging you while laser largely stops, so the longer you would have kept waxing, the bigger the gap. Run your own prices in the calculator to see your exact crossover.
